Sometimes, football fans believe that game results or at least winner’s name can be predictable. But there were numerous memorable matches in PL history that finished with impressive comebacks.

5. Tottenham 3 : 5 Manchester United

One of the most impressive comebacks in Premier League history were in the eighth round of the 2001/02 season. Sir Alex Ferguson’s name has long been associated with last-minute won matches and tense, spectacular victories.

At the end of the first half, the crowd at White Hart Lane looked at the humiliation of United. After hearing rough words from Ferguson, United changed everything in the second half.

Silvestre replaced Dennis Irwin, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer replaced Nicky Butt, and the visitors switched to 3 attackers tactics, which turned out to be the right move. The leading creator of the comeback was David Beckham, who earned three assists and a goal.

4. Norwich 4 : 5 Liverpool

Liverpool was ending January so that they had not yet gained a single victory in 2016. Roberto Firmino opened the scoring, and after that, Norwich scored three unanswered goals. Accordingly, at the 54th minute they were winning convincingly. But Liverpool scored two goals in the next 8 minutes and equalized the scoring.

Liverpool advanced at 75th minute with James Milner’s goal, and at 92nd minute Sebastian Bassong equalized the scoring.

Everyone thought the match would finish with a draw, but at the 95th minute, Adam Lallana led Liverpool to victory.

3. West Bromwich 5 : 5 Manchester United

Sir Alex Ferguson’s farewell match was exactly what the Scottish genius deserved. However, the scoring was not pleasant for Ferguson. His party was disrupted by Romelu Lukaku, who scored a hat-trick against United and struck out three points in Sir Alex’s farewell match.

The visitors were winning 3 : 0 before James Morrison and Romelu Lukaku decreased the difference to one point. After that, Robin van Persie and Chicharito scored up to 5 : 2. The fate of the match seemed determined. However, Youssouf Mulumbu’s goal and Lukaku’s last-minute double stopped Ferguson’s victory.

2. Newcastle 4: 4 Arsenal

In that match, Arsenal, who were in second place at the moment, were beating Newcastle (ninth-placed) with a four-goal lead in the 26th minute.

Hopelessly, too many Newcastle fans have left the stadium. It is difficult to imagine how they would regret this decision.

Thanks to two penalties by Joey Barton and a goal by Leon Best, seven minutes before the end of the match, Newcastle needed the only goal.

After that, one of the best goals of the season was scored by Cheick Tioté. Just three minutes before the end of the game, a free-kick from outside the penalty area blasted St James Park, and Newcastle became the only team in Premier League history to saved the match after four goals difference.

1. Manchester City 3 : 2 QPR

Although Manchester City’s “93:20” comeback was not the return from the biggest score difference, the two goals that City have scored in extra time have brought the first Premier League title to them since 1968.

In the tense climax of the season, they needed to win against QPR that was on the bottom of standings. But after 66 minutes, they were losing 1 : 2 at home. But Edin Dzeko and Sergio Aguero scored goals in 90 minutes and created the most memorable final.
