United fans long term waits finally came to an end as Bruno Fernandes took to the pitch to mark his debut in the Premier League.

Fernandes was linked with a move to Red Devils since the last summer. The Portuguese international, in January too, was aching for a move to the Premier League while laying out his intentions clearly to Sporting Lisbon.

After a negotiation that seemed to go for ages, Fernandes finally made a switch to Old Trafford this week.

The €55m player played his first match in United’s goalless draw against Wolves last night. He was also named the Man of the Match by the club’s official website.

Fernandes had decent activity throughout the game but his presence was unable to inspire United to win.

After the match, Fernandes strolled the pitch while applauding towards the home fans. In the process, he swapped shirts with one of his international teammates Daniel Podence.

United fans quickly took notice of his action and teased the player in a playful way on social media. One said, “Breaking News: Bruno Fernandes leaves Man United and joins Wolves after realizing how sh*t they are.”

“De Gea not even realizing he was shaking Bruno Fernandes’ hand and thinking it was a Wolves player.” Added another.

Marcus Rashford continues to be on the sidelines and it was evident the Englishman was well missed in the pitch. De Gea meanwhile made several saves to keep the scoreline level as the Spaniard made his 300th United appearance.

The result will, however, do little to boost spirits around Old Trafford. United is now sixth in the table and level on points with Wolves in seventh. The results mean United are six points behind Chelsea in the race for a top-four spot.
