Tottenham’s forward, Son Heung-Min traveled to Seoul for surgery on a fractured arm earlier this month. His club reports he will follow government advice and stay indoors as a precaution upon his return.

Son Heung-min is set to fly back to England this weekend. However, this is only the beginning of his return to the pitch for Tottenham Hotspur.

The 27-year-old fractured his elbow during the Premier League match against Aston Villa earlier this month. He suffered the injury in the opening minute of the match despite scoring two spectacular goals for his side.

It was only after the match that the severity of the injury was discovered. Son flew back to South Korea later that week where he underwent successful surgery.

However, the problem for Son is, after his arrival in Korea, government restrictions in the wake of the coronavirus outbreak came into place. These restrictions require anyone who has visited the country to self-isolate themselves for 14 days on their return to the United Kingdom.

Nonetheless, Son has undergone tests for the virus and given the all-clear. But he still must undergo a period of isolation due to those regulations.

This means that the star will need to remain indoors for two weeks after returning to the UK this coming weekend.

On top of that, a member of the Tottenham medical staff, who traveled with Son to South Korea to monitor the forward’s progress must also undergo self-isolation in the fortnight ahead.

Hope for Son Heung-min

Despite the fortnight of isolation away from Hotspur Way and his team-mate, there is hope that Son could return sooner than expected. The club is investigating the possibility of him being able to play in a lightweight cast if the elbow is in a stable condition to handle the physical nature of the Premier League.

“That’s another hope.” Admitted Mourinho. “But of course, we are far from it. He is coming back to England very soon.”

“Then, of course, he will have to follow some safety protocols because he flies from Seoul. When his recovery starts, we will try all the possibilities to have him back for some matches.”

“I cannot imagine when. But there’s a good possibility that before the end of the season, we have Kane and Sonny playing together.”
