Paris St-Germain head coach, Thomas Tuchel insists that Neymar is a player he can always depend on.
The Brazilian superstar, Neymar JR has had a turbulent relationship with his current club, PSG. From transfer requests, going AWOL in between games and injuries sustained at birthday parties, things have been tensed between the player and the club.
PSG signed Neymar from Barcelona for a record fee of €220 million in the 2017 summer. This move sent shock waves across the European football.
More to that majority feel the Brazilian hasn’t been able to justify his price tag at Parc des Princes.
However, despite the surrounding distractions, his manager, Thomas Tuchel has remained faithful to the player. Even with an abundance of other talents at his disposal, the PSG boss understands the importance of keeping a player like Neymar in the mix.
Speaking to the club’s official website, Tuchel insists that the former Barcelona club is not only essential but also dependable.
He said, “Ney is always the key in attack and in defense. I must really say that he is always reliable when the big matches come around.”
“He works hard, he is always there. Very intelligent and controls the passes.”
Moreover, Tuchel hints that if Neymar can be injury-free, he will only improve.
“We saw that his capacities increased after the first match against Dortmund. Sadly, he was injured before that and hadn’t played before the first leg.” Added Tuchel.
“But between the two legs, he improved physically and his capacitated were enhanced. He gave everybody the impression that he was there, that he was taking on his responsibilities. That gave everybody the right impression-to me, the team on the pitch and it’s great.”
Perhaps, Tuchel is hoping Neymar can rediscover his 2017 form or even better.
