Liverpool left the base where they trained for decades. From now on, Merseysiders will be training in a new, ultra-modern center.
Liverpool are changing training base. The Melwood base in the northwestern part of the city, where the Merseyside club has been based for the past 70 years, will be taken over by a construction company and houses will be built there.
The Liverpool first team will now move to a new training center, AXA. The center is located on the outskirts of Liverpool, in Kirbky, and cost around 50 m.
“I have a double feeling. I am happy to be moving to Kirkby. But I regret leaving Melwood. I will miss Melwood. But everything is going to get better and someday Kirkby will be just as glorious,” said Liverpool head coach Jurgen Klopp after his last move to Melbourne.
The new, state-of-the-art Liverpool training complex is located on 9,200 square meters and consists of three football fields, an indoor gym, two gyms, a swimming pool, a hydrotherapy and sports rehabilitation facility.
