Mason Greenwood has made it to the primary workforce squad and has been tipped to develop as a key participant at Old Trafford.

Greenwood has all the attributes to emulate Robin van Persie’s exploits at Manchester United in accordance with defender Luke Shaw.

The teenager has had a formidable breakout season at Old Trafford. He has scored on 12 occasions and lay on 4 assists regardless of 20 of his 36 outings in all competitions coming from the bench.

Writing in his weekly lockdown dairy on United’s official website, Shaw marveled on the 18-year-old potential. Shaw sees shades of Van Persie-the Netherlands great whose prolific debut season at Old Trafford in 2012-13 impressed Alex Ferguson’s farewell Premier League title triumph.

“He has had a fantastic first season in the first team. He’s clearly a natural goalscorer.” Said Shaw.

“This season, although he doesn’t begin on a regular basis, his objectives return and his stats are nice. He has brought some assists too. For somebody so younger, of their first season, he’s executed brilliantly.”

“He’s still got so much to learn. But if he carries on working hard and pushes himself every day, then I don’t see why we can’t see him turn into another Robin Van Persie or a player of that style that’ll score lots of goals for us.”

Greenwood’s most notable trait is his two-footed capabilities. Shaw is aware of what a considerable challenge this can present to defenders.

“Surely, the fact that he’s two-footed is unbelievable.” the England international added.

“When I used to be youthful, after I performed youth soccer, there was a younger lad known as Lewis Baker who performed with Chelsea, he was always two-footed.”

“He and Mason are most likely the only two pure two-footed players I’ve seen. when I used to be in Southampton, Adam Lallan could also use his left and right very nicely.”

“Also Ravel Morrison was very strong on both feet and we’ve seen a lot of people talking about his potential in recent weeks. But I’d say, Mason, is stronger on that front.”
