Arsenal was never in the 2019/20 season’s Premier League title race. Although, the club could have a big say as to when Liverpool is finally crowned champions.

In Liverpool’s final game before the season suspension, the club came from behind to beat Bournemouth at Anfield. This was a big result for Klopp’s side following back-to-back losses at the hands of Chelsea and Watford.

The result meant Liverpool required three more wins to clinch a first-ever title and a first league title in any format in 30 years.

However, the magic number was reduced to two over 24 hours later. This because Man City, the only team that can mathematically catch the Merseyside giants were beaten 2-0 by rivals Manchester United at Old Trafford.

Goals in either half from Anthony Martial and Scott McTominay inflicted a seventh league defeat on the defending champions this season. The defeats thereafter pushed Liverpool closer to the title.

Moreover, there is a scenario that could see Klopp’s side crowned champions of England before they take to the pitch against bitter rivals, Everton at Goodison Park.

This is where Arsenal and Mikel Arteta could play a big role.

It’s Arteta’s first return to the Etihad Stadium on June 17 when the Premier League kicks off. Should he claim all three points over his former mentor, Pep Guardiola, Liverpool would require one more win from their final nine games to clinch the title.

The scenario is thereof too much for one Arsenal fan to particularly handle. A Gunners fan commented, “Rescheduling of the Man City-Arsenal game to before the next full round of fixtures means we’re back to the Liverpool can win the league at Goodison nightmare scenario. So, happy football is returning”.
