David Luiz took Dani Ceballos on a challenge in Arsenal training as the Brazilian struck the latter on the nose, drawing blood. Afterward, the Spaniard rose to his feet and the pair had to be separated.
News of a fiery alteration at Arsenal’s training ground has emerged with David Luiz hitting team-mate Dani Ceballos on the face, drawing blood from the midfielder.
A report from The Athletic revealed Ceballos quickly rose to his feet before both were separated by staff and team-mates. Later on, the pair were sent home from training. However, Ceballos has branched the report as “fake” on his Twitter account on Thursday evening.
Nonetheless, the report details after three days of the fight state the pair apologized to their team-mates for the altercation and that training has resumed with no issue. This after Mikel Arteta asked both Luiz and Ceballos to clear the air in the dressing room during Tuesday’s training.
As reports stipulate, it is not the first time in this season that Ceballos has been involved in a confrontation with one of his team-mates.
Before their Premier League opening match at Fulham, Ceballos faced up to fellow substitute Eddie Nketiah during a drill in the warm-up. Ever since Nketiah has admitted that “it is all love” between himself and the 24-year-old on-loan midfielder.
And yet, the new row five days after Arsenal’s 3-0 defeat by Aston Villa, in which Ceballos came on as a replacement but Luiz was an unused substitute.
The International Break presents Problems to Arsenal
Arsenal is facing problems of its own during the international break. Midfielder Mohamed Elneny tested positive for COVID as Willian traveled to Dubai whilst on the break despite lockdown. Meanwhile, Aubameyang was forced to sleep on the airport floor on international duty with Gabon.
Currently, Arteta’s side sits at the 11th position in the Premier League table. Also, they face the “hard to crack” Leeds United on Sunday after their season opener which has seen them lose four of their eight Premier League matches.
This week, the coach has revealed about Ozil’s exclusion claiming his decision to ax the German star has hurt him.
He said I’m hurt because I don’t like any player in my squad not to have the possibility to participate or to compete. For me, it is really sad because I don’t think anybody deserves that”.
“But the end of the day, I’m sitting here to make decisions that in my opinion are the best for the football club. And this is what I have to do”.
