Stefano Pioli has stressed that AC Milan scraped the barrel to bounce from Thursday’s Europa League disappointment to beat Fiorentina.

Milan fought hard to came from behind and beat Fiorentina 3-2. Zlatan Ibrahimovic placed his side ahead before Erick Pulgar pulled a superb free-kick to level the score before the break.

Fiorentina hit the second after Franck Ribery netted; Brahim Diaz could not allow the goal to last as he in an equalizer at the far post. Hakan Calhanoglu ensured that Milan secured the three points after he netted to make it 3-2 with 20 minutes to go.

Pioli’s boy were able to bounce back from the Europa league loss and the coach said, ‘the guys scraped the barrel.’

“The disappointment was strong, we wanted to go on, but the two performances gave us more motivation and confidence. It was the most difficult race; the guys scraped the barrel to find all possible strength.”

Pioli celebrated at the end of the game and he revealed that he always rejoice when AC Milan wins.

“I always rejoice when we win, the matches are all difficult and important. The more you go on, the more the matches weigh. There are so many teams fighting, we want to try to stay there. We knew we couldn’t be brilliant but the important thing was to get back to victory. Having succeeded against a team like Fiorentina means that we have made an important performance.”

The Italian also talked about the title charge. He said the battle for Scudetto is still on and they need to keep pushing on. He stressed that Ibrahimovic is right to talk about the title.

“Ibra is right to talk about the Scudetto. We must try to win them all, our future depends on us. We have the qualities to try to win every single match. All the matches will be difficult, we must try to insist,” he added.

Finally, Pioli revealed that he didn’t expect Juventus to lose but that’s football.

“I didn’t expect it, but in football, you can’t take anything for granted,” he said.
