Former AC Milan coach Fabio Capello has given lots of credit to Stefano Pioli for transforming the club’s mentality and performance.

According to Capello, Pioli has done a great job transforming Milan, both from a results standpoint and mentality. Despite AC Milan crashing out of the Europa League last week, the veteran coach insists they made a good impression.

“He is doing a very good job, at a great level. It was Milan’s luck to reconfirm him when there was talk, let’s call it, about other coaches. He showed great seriousness, especially helping the players present in the squad grow and play excellent football,” Capello said.

Milan crashed out of the Europa League on an aggregate of 2-1 but Capello believes they were good.

“Milan played a very good match against Manchester United, making a good impression. It showed that you have to play with a certain spirit, but the truth is that they are out. Just like the other Italian clubs (except Roma),” he said.

Capello also talked about Chelsea on loan defender Fakiyo Tomori and the quick settlement in the club.

“Paolo Maldini and Frederic Massara know about football. They are competent, they have seen the qualities of this player and they have certainly known him for a long time,” he explained.

“They have made a great purchase, because Tomori’s speed is one of the most important things for a defender, as well as knowing how to mark, of course. Speed helps a lot,” he added.

Apart from the great signing Maldini and mascara made Capello hopes Milan’s number one stays. There have been rumors that Donnarumma could leave the Rossoneri, but Capello wants him to stay.

“I hope he stays with Milan. I hope he is satisfied in a period of pandemic with what has been offered to him recently and that he can stay with the Rossoneri,” Capello said.
