Juve coach Andrea Pirlo insists that Cristiano Ronaldo was happy to be substituted at the end of Saturday’s spectacular 3-2 win over Inter.

Andrea Pirlo was happy

Cristiano opened the scoring in the first half by converting a rebound from his own free kick after Samir Handanovic saved the effort. But as the game drew to a close, he was relegated to Alvaro Morata, and he didn’t hold on to watch the exciting conclusion to a game that was to win. Andrea Pirlo thinks this was the first time he was happy to be out of touch about a decision, the first time Cristiano was replaced in a Serie A game by this term. According to Pirlo they were one person down and he would chase the shadows and be happy and smiling in the dressing room. In the absence of Cristiano Colombia, the international Juan Cuadrado stepped up to become the hero of Juventus in a match they had to win to keep their hopes of creating the Champions League alive.

The Colombian regained a 2-1 lead for the home team after Lukaku canceled opener Cristiano with a penalty, and again waved minutes from the end to make it 3-2 with a third penalty in a match he earned himself. That win puts Juventus in fourth place, two points ahead of Napoli, although the Southern Italians could return for the last Champions League title with a win over Fiorentina on Sunday. Then it all comes down to the final day next weekend, when Juventus will host Verona at Bologna and Napoli.

Pirlo was focused on playing tonight

Andrea came under pressure in his debut season after seeing the Juventus run of nine consecutive Scudetti runs coming to an end as Inter reclaimed the title. The club’s idol, however, insists he doesn’t think beyond the end of the season. Pirlo added that he was not thinking about the future and was only focused on the game today. We’ll talk about the future later.
