Manchester United have delivered a big hit ahead of their campaign’s break-in after Ole Gunnar Solskjaer confirmed that Anthony Martial is expected to skip the rest of the season due to injury.

Martial will miss the rest of the season

France’s International knocked out of the 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifier Les Bleus with Kazakhstan last month with what initially hoped to be a minor knock that would keep it in contention. However, the striker is now set for an extended period on the sidelines with a knee sprain, hurting not only United’s hopes in the Premier League and Europa League, but also the striker’s chances of making a rescheduled Euro 2020 this summer.

The Norwegian said that unfortunately he stretched his knee with France ahead of his side’s return to the Premier League against Brighton & Hove Albion. It is always when they leave for international and that they can hope that they will come back. Ole Gunnar Solskjær added that he is pleased to see fellow countryman Paul Pogba go through the international break. according to him, Pogba played in all three matches, 30, 60, 90 minutes, so that was an incentive for them.

This is a cruel blow

It’s a blow for the former Monaco, who will not only miss United’s Europa League crown and maiden trophy under Ole Gunnar, but is now facing nervous anticipation to see if he will make a cut for Didier Deschamps this summer. The 25-year-old was a member of the France squad five years ago at Euro 2016, and was a freelance replacement in the final as Les Bleus faced Portugal.

But he missed the Russia 2018 World Cup qualifier two years later, instead making a reserve list after being demoted by United Alexis Sanchez, effectively taking him off a spot on the winning squad. Now he could miss again as France aims to make it two big trot tournament victories
