Chelsea flop Tiemoue Bakayoko wants to stay at Napoli despite a possible management change as Gennaro Gattuso may leave.
Bakayoko joined Napoli this season on loan after returning another loan spell from AC Milan. Before Milan’s loan, he was loaned to Monaco and his brother (agent) Abdoulaye has said the French midfielder is happy at the club.
Napoli’s coach contract will expire in the summer and there are no talks with the club to extend his stay. This means Gattuso may leave regardless of whether Napoli qualifies for the champions league spot or not.
Bakayoko has expressed his desire to stay at Napoli but there are no talks. Considering that Bakoyoko has struggled for game time in Stamford Bridge, Napoli could be a way out for the midfielder.
“There is a strong bond with the coach, but when the discussions are held with the club to stay at Napoli, then we’ll see,” Abdoulaye added.
He further revealed that Bakayoko is focusing on the current season and there are no talks to discuss his future.
“The focus right now is to see out the season in the best possible way,” he revealed.
“Whether he remains at Napoli or not, that will not depend on Gattuso. He is happy here; it’s a big club with a great history,” he confirmed.
Although Bakayoko has expressed his desire to stay, there are no talks in place to keep him. However, Chelsea’s asking price of 16 Million might be the reason why Napoli are reluctant. Meanwhile, Gattuso’s stay at Napoli has been in limbo after his side crashed out of the Europa League.
Chelsea are fighting for the English top four under Thomas Tuchel’s management and the will for sure wants to bolster their squad. the Blues will have to overhaul the surplus and Bakayoko may be among the overhauls.
