It’s not a surprise that Barcelona can’t sing all ‘possible’ strikers in summers. There are three candidates that Barca’s management is looking after.
What’s the intention of Koeman?
Spanish newspapers write that Koeman wants to sign Memphis Depay. 27 years old striker is an ideal solution for Barca because he will be a free agent in summer. Barca can sign Depay for free but he will ask for a big contract. Keep in mind that Depay already has big contract offers from Premier League and Italian Serie A. That’s why Barca will find it hard to sign Memphis on a very low contract. Barcelona has more than 1 billion Euros debt. It’s the biggest debt in the history of the club, so it will be tough for Laporta to find free space for many strikers.
Barcelona needs a really good striker. After letting Luis Suarez go and sign for Atletico Madrid, Barca is left without a real N9. Ansu Fati got injured in the first weeks of the month and he can’t play until the summer 2021. That’s why Koeman wants to sign an experienced striker. Depay will be an ideal solution for his intentions and strategy.
What’s in mind of Lionel Messi?
The Argentinian player wants to bring his very close friend to Camp Nou. As you may know, Sergio Aguero will be a free agent in three months. Manchester City is not going to extend the contract with the striker, so Aguero is free to sign with Barcelona. The main problem lies in the monthly salary. As mentioned above, Barca has a big debt of European banking institutions, so they can’t free-up big space when it comes to salaries. Laporta wants to sign Erling Haaland too. He does not want to miss this chance, but there is a salary problem again. Whose candidate will win this race? Koeman, Messi or Laporta favorite player? We will see in summer.
