Atletico Madrid’s transfer ban closed off any chances Manchester United had in signing Antoine Griezmann, but now with their ban being lifted in January looks like the Frenchman might be moving to Barcelona instead of the Premier League.

Way before Manchester United had their eyes set on Romelu Lukaku, they were very keen on signing Griezman, and it looks like the deal would go through, but it was Atletico Madrid’s transfer ban that stopped the deal from going through.

The Frenchman concluded that he just couldn’t leave his team Atletico hanging with them not having the capacity to sign a substitution. Instead, Griezmann marked another deal, and United got Lukaku, and the deal was closed off, for now, it may.

Barcelona very close to agreeing terms with Griezmann

In January the club’s boycott is lifted, and they will sign Diego Costa over from Chelsea. While Griezmann isn’t probably going to leave in the middle of the season, there is a chance he might be leaving in the summer.

Though Manchester United are as yet a plausibility however as indicated by French daily paper Le 10 Sport the 26-year-old is very close to coming to terms with La Liga rivals Barcelona. However, the clubs are yet to have any negotiations.

Once he’d chosen to remain in the mid-year, Griezmann had signed a new contract that changed his previous release clause to £178 million, to make sure he doesn’t leave the club too easily.

If any case the Catalans feel like Manchester United are still interested, they’d come forward to match the £178 million clause and start negotiating with their Spanish rivals.

With Luis Suarez struggling to score goals this season around it could just be a perfect time in bring in another word class striker into the team to refresh the squad up.
