After a big win against Inter Milan without Messi, Barcelona played against Real Sociedad. It was a tough match for Valverde and the team.

Pre-match preparations

Barcelona was fully ready for a match in San Sebastian. Lionel Messi joined the group to train on Thursday after two days off. Valverde gave the Argentinean player two days off to heal from every little issue in ankles. Lionel Messi could not help the team in Milan, so Barcelona had to win without six Ballon d’Or winner.

Real Sociedad was ready for the match. It was the first time for Martin Odegaard to face Barcelona. Officially, Odegaard is still the player of Los Blancos. Norwegian player joined Real Sociedad on loan during the summer of 2019. It was the first-time clash against Barcelona for Martin after leaving Real Madrid on loan.

1st half of the match

Real Sociedad started the game with more motivation. We saw two terrific attacks from San Sebastian players. Real Sociedad could score a goal in the 12th minute. Everything happened in the 12th minute when Real Sociedad got the right to take a corner. After the cross from the corner, Barcelona’s defender holds the Sociedad player. It was an apparent foul and referee blow the whistle.

Antoine Griezmann could score the game-tying goal in the 38th minute. After the assist from Luis Suarez, Frenchman was successful in converting the shot into the goal. The first half ended with 1-1, and both teams took a break for the second half.

2nd half of the match

The second half started in the worst way for Real Sociedad. In just four minutes after the break, Barcelona could score. With a fast counter-attack, Lionel Messi took the ball and gave assists to Luis Suarez. Uruguayan player got on a one-on-one with the goalkeeper and scored an easy goal.

On 62nd minute, Real Sociedad could score the goal. After the cross from the left-wing, Ter Stegen could not keep the ball in hands. Isak took the ball dropped from Stegen and scored the game-tying goal.

Both teams could score two goals. Barcelona dropped two points in San Sebastian. As of now, Barcelona one more point than Real Madrid.
