In the last Summer Transfer window, Barcelona did everything they could to sign Philippe Coutinho. Despite the fact that Coutinho wanted to sign for Barcelona, Liverpool didn’t want to let him go.
The Catalan giants are likely to go back to try and sign Coutinho in January or during the next summer window. But reports from Mundo Deportivo via The Mirror says that if they aren’t able to sign the Brazilian they’re going to opt for German maestro Mesut Ozil.
At the age of 29, the German International is four-years-older than the Brazilian. But with his contract expiring next summer he could be picked up for cheap in January or absolutely nothing during the next Summer window.
If Mesut Ozil would want to sign for Barcelona having played for all-time rivals Real Madrid is a factor to keep in mind. But there’s barely any player that’d turn down the chance to move to the Camp Nou.
Some more players have been linked to a move to Barcelona as Philippe Coutinho “alternatives”. But it feels more like a ploy to make Liverpool panic into accepting Barcelona’s offer Coutinho in not wanting to lose out on big money.
Will Coutinho be moving to Barcelona next summer?
