The transfer, which has been awaited in Munich for a long time, maybe implemented very soon. SPORT BILD writes in a new issue on Wednesday that Bayern and Manchester City winger Leroy Sane have agreed on a five-year contract.

Another reputable German publication, SPORT1, confirms that both sides are very close to an agreement. But nothing has been finally decided yet.

Negotiations are in an active phase, and the transfer that was supposed to take place last year. But they failed at the last minute will take place this year. According to SPORT1, the Munich Grand and the 24-year-old German national team player agree on the final details – including the duration of the contract. Chance is excellent that Sane will really sign a 5-year contract with the club.

Many things have changed.

SPORT BILD writes that in Munich they saw a chance to buy the desired player for less than 60 million pounds (about 69 million euros). As it turns out, the first offer from Munich was 40 million pounds (about 46 million euros).

It is noteworthy that last year there was talk of a sum of 100 to 150 million euros. But since then many things have changed.

First, the transfer market has changed. Due to the crisis caused by the pandemic of the coronavirus, the prices of the players have dropped all over the world. Sane’s price has dropped from 100 to 80 million euros on the transfer market.

Clubs no longer have revenue. They are in danger of a significant financial crisis, and bosses and agents believe very little transfer will take place this summer.

Sane’s case is different. He ends his contract with City in 2021, which means he can leave the club for free next year. So City are under pressure now.

The city needs money. UEFA has cut the club for two years from the European tournaments. Therefore, the Manchester club should take the money with transfers so as not to break the Financial-Fairplay rule.

Sane’s price is still low because he didn’t have any playing practice. He suffered the most severe injury last summer. Sane made his last official appearance 9 months ago.

Bayern President Herbert Hainer and Sports Director Hassan Salihamidzic have repeatedly said in recent days that despite the crisis, they want to make a noisy transfer. “Our goal has always been and will always be to have a team that can win the Champions League. We will try to buy a top international star every year, ” – Hainer said.
