Reports claim that Ronaldo, 36, is unhappy at Juventus and could sanction a Summer move away from Turin. Rumors links the veteran forward to an Old Trafford return since he departed for Real Madrid.

However, the former  Manchester United number Nine believes that Ronaldo at the age of 36, will be a perfect match for an Old Trafford return.

“Juventus are in a bit of trouble at the minute, and it’s looking like they may miss out on Champions League football,” Berbatov said.

“I’ve read that Cristiano Ronaldo will be leaving if that is the case. I’m sure people connected to United would love for him to come home,” he claimed.

“He’s 36, but with his shape and form, I don’t see that being an issue for him if he was to come back to United,” he added.

Though the Bulgarian suggested that Ronaldo to United, he believes he will be searching for a new challenge.

“I think he will be looking for another challenge of a new place. He has done it at United, Real Madrid, and Juventus,” Berbatov said.

“He may want to go to a new club to prove to himself. But he may prefer to go back to United for a year or two,” he suggested.

“Sporting have just been crowned champions in Portugal. And that is another possibility for him also,” the former Tottenham Hotspurs man added.

Meanwhile, Ronaldo’s mother Dolores Aveiro insists her son will play for Sporting Lisbon next season. She went on to confirm that she will push Ronaldo to join the club next season.

While confirming her intention to lure Ronaldo back to the Jose Alvalade, she said, “I’ll talk to him [Cristiano] to bring him back.”

“Next year he will play in Alvalade [Sporting’s stadium],” Ronaldo’s mother added.
