‘It should be possible when the ball leaves the field in the air and returns again.’ Wenger has already come up with innovative ideas before. He has talked about offside before.

Former Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger is in favor of several changes to the rules of football. The French specialist spoke about this:

“In my opinion, such corners should be allowed when the ball leaves the field in the air and returns again. This will create additional opportunities for goals. Another idea concerns throw-ins. In general, the throw-in should be advantageous, but in fact, it turns out that this time the attacking team has 9 players on the field and the opponent – 10. According to statistics, in 8 out of 10 such cases, the attacking team loses the ball. Therefore, when there are 5 minutes left before the end of the match, the teams should be given the opportunity to kick in the ball”.

Interestingly, this is not the first time Wenger has called for a change in existing football rules. Earlier, he demanded the cancellation of the goal advantage in the playoffs of the European Cups, and then, the offside also touched on the rule. According to the French coach, the offside should not be fixed if any part of the player’s body is parallel to the last defender.

The 70-year-old Wenger has also worked for French side Nancy, Monaco, and Japan’s Nagoya Grampus, and took over at Arsenal in 1996, where he won the Premier League three times, won the FA Cup seven times, and once played in the Champions League final.
