Edinson Cavani gave an interview to the Manchester United website. The Uruguayan striker explained his choice.

Manchester United fans are looking forward to Edinson Cavani’s debut but will have to wait some more time as the Uruguayan is in 14-day quarantine and will only be able to play his first Mancunian match on October 20 – in the Champions League first leg against his former club, PSG.

Earlier, Cavani gave a remote interview to United’s website and explained why he decided to move to Manchester.

‘I still have a great desire to fight, to work and to spend to the end’

“I had many different options – even when the situation is difficult in sports and in the world in general. But I was very attracted by having the opportunity to play in England – especially because it was about Manchester United. This is a great motivation for me. I still have a great desire to fight, work and spend to the end. “Let’s hope I can handle this task and help the club achieve the best results with my teammates,” said the 33-year-old striker.

Cavani will play the legendary number 7 for this club at United: “When I have the opportunity to wear this shirt, it will be a great responsibility, because the legends of this club were number 7. “I hope I will have the appropriate results for their names,” the Uruguayan added.

Edinson Cavani was hired by Manchester United for free because he was a Uruguayan free agent. In 2013-2020, he played for PSG, where he scored 200 goals in 301 games and is the top scorer in the club’s history. The 33-year-old striker has also played for Danubio, Palermo and Napoli.
