Pre-match preparations

In the previous round of the groups Argentina lost two important points. Brazil took an advantage in this case and they are now in the first position. Before the fourth round, Brazil had 9 points and Argentina was with 7 points. Brazil had problems with rotation and squad. First of all, their main midfielder Casemiro has a Covid-19. He was tested positive for coronavirus just a few before international break. Most of the squads of Brazil play every third day in the Premier League and Spanish Primera, so it was hard for the coach to rotate the line-up.

Tite started the match with a very interesting attacking line. First of all, Brazilian team called Junior Vinicius; they did not give him a single second to play. Vinicius fans were furious about the decision of Tite. Vinicius had to fly away from Spain and travel back to South America just to sit on the bench. Tite played both matches with Richarlison and Jesus as the wingers. Liverpool’s Firmino was a main striker in the team. Arthur and Ribeiro were playing on the wings and Luis from a deep midfield. Tabares had the same problem – he could not play with Luis Suarez. Main striker of the team could not help the national team. Along with Suarez, Valverde could not help Uruguay. Youngster is playing a lot for his national team. Unfortunately he had an injury and stayed in Madrid for recovery.

Brazil opened the score-line in 33rd minute. Arthur scored a beautiful goal and gave a lead to his team. After few minutes, Brazil increased a lead. After Lodi’s pass Everton’s Richarlison scored another goal. First half ended 2-0 in favor of Brazil.

2nd half of the match

Oscar Tabarez tried hard to change the outcome. He substituted players from the start of the second half. The coach added more strikers but they could not save the match. We should note that Argentina and Uruguay could not register a single shot on target in second half. In the 71st minute Cavani got red card and it was visible that Uruguay could not change the outcome.
