On 17th May, Hudson Odoi was arrested and released on bail until mid-June. Luckily, an investigation by the relevant authorities has ended and he is free to focus on football and become a role model.

The 19-year-old wrote on Twitter, “At a time where there are bigger things happening in the world right now, you may also be aware of serious allegations that were made against me”.”

“I have stayed silent and assisted the police fully throughout their inquiries. As I know, the day would soon come when my name would be cleared”.

“Following a full and thorough investigation, the police have now confirmed they will take no further action”.

“I would like to use this platform to thank everyone who has stood by my side and supported me during this difficult period”.

“I have learned that being a footballer and playing for one of the best clubs in the world comes with great responsibility. Going forward, I will try and use my platform as a Chelsea player to be the best role model that I can be”.

In a statement, the Metropolitan Police wrote, “A man arrested on Sunday 17th May, following an allegation of rape has been released with no further action”.

“The incident is therefore no longer being investigated by the police”.

As so, Chelsea has declined to make a comment on their wingers dropped the case.

Prior to his arrest that came during COVID-19 enforced lockdown in Britain, Odoi had tested positive for the virus.

He was among the first footballing figures to contact the virus with competitive action eventually being placed in an indefinite state of postponement.

Greenlight has been given for top-level sport to resume with the Premier League due to get underway from June 17.

Hudson-Odoi has returned to full training with Lampard’s side set to restart their 2019/20 campaign away at Aston Villa on June 21.
