After long-term injuries, Marco van Ginkel is starting training. Chelsea are in talks with the player about a new contract.

In 2013, Chelsea bought London’s young, promising player Marco van Ginkel for 8 million Pounds from Arnhem Vitesse.

However, in the very first season, the Dutch midfielder played in only 2 Premier League games for the Blues due to injuries. After the end of the 2013/14 season, Chelsea sent the player to Milan for lease. After Italy, Van Ginkel played a break in Stoke City.

Since 2015, the Londoners have rereleased the young player by deportation. This time Marco spent 3.5 seasons at PSV Eindhoven. After the end of the 2017/18 season, Van Ginkel returned injured to Stamford Bridge and has not appeared on the field since then.

After several difficult knee surgeries, the 27-year-old has started training with an individual, lightweight program. So, there is a big chance that he will be able to play from the new season.

“My agent, Karel Jansen, is in talks with Chelsea about a new contract. I am very happy that the club still trusts me.

It is a special feeling when the club tries to keep a player who has been injured for so long. If we reach an agreement, I hope to return to the field soon and initially play for the Chelsea Under-23 team. Otherwise, I will leave the club as a free agent and start looking for a new team.

I’ve worked so hard to get back into football, and now everything is going well. I can already exercise lightly 4-5 days a week. I was planning to return to group training in March, before the spread of the coronavirus pandemic, ”Van Ginkel was quoted as saying by The Sun.
