Liverpool may not celebrate England’s long-awaited championship – British editions including The Telegraph and The Daily Mail report about that. After 27 rounds in the English Premier League, Liverpool have 79 points and are ahead of Manchester City by 22 points. Fans of the team are waiting for the coveted title, but Liverpool may not be able to win the title.

According to British media, due to the threat of coronavirus, the British government is considering canceling sporting events to hinder the spread of the virus. Eleven rounds remain until the end of the Premier League. Liverpool are the undisputed favorite to win the title.

Liverpool have no guarantee to win the Premier League

In the case, if the British government makes that decision, the Telegraph reports, the results of the current Premier League season could be canceled. Accordingly, Liverpool will no longer win the championship.

If the season is not over, and there are high chances that it will not, a commission will be set up to discuss whether or not the results so far must be removed. Therefore, Jurgen Klopp’s team has no guarantee.

The Telegraph says that if events take place in such a scenario and the remaining matches do not take place, there is no rule as to what should be considered.

As of today, more than 80,000 people have been infected in 50 countries around the world. More than 2 800 died, and 36 880 managed to recover. On Friday, the Swiss government canceled all events that had to be attended by more than 1,000 people. There will also be no football matches in Switzerland this weekend.

There are 11 rounds left in the Premier League. For 30 years, Liverpool have not celebrated the English Championship. So it will be very disappointing for Liverpool if all the points of the current season are removed. In this case, the club will fail to gain an obvious PL championship title.
