The Red Devils have signed the six-month loan contract with a former Watford striker Odion Ighalo on the last day of January’s Transfer window. The Nigerian attacker will stay in Manchester United until the end of the season.

You may already know that United’s top scorer Marcus Rashford got a serious Back Injury at the beginning of January. Accordingly, he will not be able to play for three months. However, Manchester United started to search for some additional strikers. Finally, they focused their attention on Ighalo.

Noteworthy, Tottenham Hotspurs were also interested in the striker, but their negotiations failed.

After a successful transfer deal on the deadline day, Odion Ighalo is leaving for Old Trafford in the coming days. He will probably do his best not to make United disappointed. If you don’t know, let me inform you that Ighalo is a big fan of Manchester United since his early childhood.

This short-term deal may turn into an excellent opportunity for him to show all his potential to Ole Gunnar Solskjær. Manchester coach seems to be excited with his latest deal and says that Ighalo will be a different center-forward.

Ighalo’s former career

Odion Ighalo is an experienced striker. He played for Watford in 2014-2017 years and scored 20 goals for the team during his 30 championship appearances.

In January 2017, the Nigerian forward left the club and joined the Chinese Super League club, Changchun Yatai, where he netted 36 goals in 55 outings.

In 2019, Ighalo moved to Shanghai Shenhua. Now he has a chance to play for the Red Devils. It should also be noted here that Odion Ighalo will be the first Nigerian player in United.

Nigerian International seems to be fit, healthy, and ready to play. However, Solskjær hardly believes that the striker is skillful enough to help the Premier League Giants in their current run for their place in Top four.
