‘It was a bad episode; however, racism has nothing to do with Ibra’. Maldini Defended Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

Paolo Maldini, the technical director of Italian Milan, commented on the quarrel between Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Romelu Lukaku and defended the Swedish player. According to the legendary Italian, Zlatan defended his teammates from the Belgian attack.

“It was a bad episode that ended there. We are ready to defend our player. Racism has nothing to do with Ibra. He apologized, but he protected his teammates from Lukaku aggression and attack,” Maldini said.

Recall that in the 1/4 final of the Italian Cup, Inter defeated Milan 2: 1. At the end of the first half, there was a serious conflict between Zlatan and Lukaku, due to which both players received yellow cards. In the second half, Ibrahimovic was warned for the second time and, accordingly, was expelled.

The disciplinary committee disqualified both players for one match, but no – for this quarrel. The thing is, Zlatan, as we said, received a red card and was automatically disqualified, while Lukaku was in the yellow card limit and will miss the first semi-final match against Juventus due to the warning received. It is another matter that the Italian Football Federation will discuss this dispute in particular. So, they may even punish the players.
