Maradona has suffered from anaemia and dehydration
Diego Maradona’s doctor said that the legendary figure is in a hospital suffering from anaemia and dehydration but showing signs of improvement. Maradona was admitted to the hospital on Monday after feeling unwell for several days. He seemed weak and needed help in his last public occurrence on Friday. Speaking to journalists outside the Ipensa Clinic in La Plata, 59 km-s south of Buenos Aires, Maradona’s personal doctor Leopoldo Luque said the 60-year-old’s condition is improving. “Diego is much better than yesterday, and he is looking forward to leaving. I wish he had stayed one more day,” Luque told media. “He is anaemic, a little dehydrated, we have to fix that and see that he continues to improve. We want to improve his condition as much as possible, and we need a little more time for that.”
The doctor asked him to stay for one more night
Luque admitted that he had minor disagreements with Maradona about the length of his hospital stay, and the doctor would like the World Cup winner to be hospitalized a little longer. “Because he sees himself better, he wants to leave,” Luque said. “I asked him to hold on. He had a good night and is in a good mood. We were joking around and went to the clinic a little. It is developing as we expected”. Fans of Gimnasia La Plata, the local club where Maradona serves as head coach, flocked outside the hospital, a gesture that Luque said could be helpful in for Maradona. “Most of all, he needs the support of the people,” Luque said.
