Bayern’s another championship is almost inevitable this year. However, the mayor of Munich banned the traditional celebration. So there will be no celebration on the balcony of Munich City Hall this year.

Bad news for Bayern Munich fans, but it was expected!

If Bayern become German champions (“if” is probably already extra, but still), the traditional celebration on Marienplatz, on the balcony of the Munich City Hall, in front of fans, will not take place. The Oberburgermaster of the City, Dieter Reiter, confirmed to Bild that it was out of the question.

“Celebrating Bayern’s championship at the Marienplatz is everyone’s favorite annual tradition. But this year it’s just unbelievable. Obviously, the reason is the corresponding restrictions on the Coronavirus pandemic, ”the 62-year-old mayor said.

“I’m sure we will find a way.”

After the victory in Dortmund (1: 0), Bayern came even closer to the eighth championship in a row. According to our German colleagues, the record-breaking championship will not end without a celebration. The people of Bayern probably celebrate the title directly in the City Hall building – but without celebrating on the balcony.

“I’m sure with the club’s management, we’ll be able to find a way to celebrate the championship,” Reiter added.

Recall that the championship from the leading European football countries was resumed by Germany first. After the restart, three rounds have already been held in the Bundesliga. The 29th round of the German championship starts on Friday – Freiburg will host Leverkusen in the first match. Bayern will play Dusseldorf Fortuna on Saturday, while second-placed Borussia Dortmund will visit Paderborn on Sunday.
