Barcelona could defeat Inter Milan in Italy so that Dortmund could qualify for the Champions League play-offs. German club did everything to win the home match against Slavia Prague.

Pre-match preparations

Dortmund had an effortless match in Bundesliga. During the weekend, Favre’s players could score five goals at home against Dusseldorf. Marco Reus and Jayden Sancho had a perfect game against Dusseldorf. Both players could score a goal and give an assist.

At the same time, Slavia Prague won away match in the local championship. Slavia scored three goals and have not conceded. Keep in mind that both teams had a perfect weekend matches in local tournaments. Slavia Prague’s main goal was to score as many goals as possible against Dortmund. Favre’s players wanted only one thing – win the match and wait for Barcelona’s gift from Italy.

1st half of the match

Paco Alcacer is back from injury, but can’t play yet. As Lucian Favre said, Spanish forward still had a slight pain in the ankle, so it will be better to give him time. While Paco could not help the team, Marco Reus became the center forward of Dortmund.

Against Slavia Prague, Favre decided to start with Reus as a center forward and Sancho-Hazard as wingers. Dortmund decided to attack from the first minutes, and they could score a goal in the 10th minute.

Marco Reus got a perfect pass from Hazard. Marco Reus dribbled through the penalty area of Slavia Prague and gave an assist to Jayden Sancho. English player was in a good position, so it was not hard for him to score the goals.

In the first half, we saw a perfect Slavia Prague. After the goal, Dortmund could not do anything. Slavia Prague was dominating the opponent and had many moments to score the goal. Dortmund’s keeper, Burki, had four saves in the first 45 minutes. Unfortunately to Dortmund fans, Slavia could score a goal on 43rd minute of the match. After the fast counter-attack, Soucek scores an easy tap-in goal.

2nd half of the match

During the break, Dortmund players found that Inter Milan had a tying game against Barcelona. That gave Favre’s players motivation to score the goal and win the game.

On 61st minute, Jayden Sancho gave an assist to Julian Brandt. German players went through the penalty area and scored a beautiful goal. Brandt’s goal was the last one in the match, although Slavia’s players did everything to score the game-tying goal.

Dortmund qualified to Champions League play-offs thanks to Barcelona’s win in Milan.
