Solskjaer arrived in Old Trafford as a permanent manager in 2018. This was after a positive tenure providing the club a much-needed boost following Mourinho’s negative onset.

The Norwegian guided the squad into the top four in the 2019/20 campaign. The Club reached three semi-finals although the side’s form in the opening stages of the 2020/21 season has provided cause for concern among chiefs.

United lost 3-1 to Crystal Palace in their opening game at home before scraping past Brighton in a dramatic clash on the south coast. The Seagulls struck the Red Devils not less than five times.

Last Sunday’s shocking 6-1 defeat to Spurs sent shockwaves through the club to the extent Woodward reportedly undeterred Solskjaer’s legendary status when it comes to his managerial role.  Although, the Norwegian was a fan favorite owing to his heroics as a player under Sir Alex Ferguson.

The United chief executive has come under fire for the club’s disappointment transfer window. They failed in their pursuit of Jadon Sancho. The late swoops for Edinson Cavani and Alex Telles did little to ease criticism from United fans. Although, the supporters bemoaned the club transfer’s failing while their rivals straightened their squads.

Should bad performance take over the club, Ed Woodward is interested in bringing Mauricio Pochettino, former Tottenham boss. In other news, the Argentine has rejected jobs elsewhere as he prepares to wait for the right chance to arise.

United has a tough run of fixtures coming up after the international break. They will first take on Newcastle before facing Chelsea, Arsenal, and Everton in the Premier League and Paris St-Germain and RB Leipzig in Europe.
