Cavani, who joined Manchester United on Monday left the French side Paris St-German in June and has since not been part of an elite athlete group.

The striker continued to live in France after his departure from PSG. But due to the UK coronavirus rules, he will need to isolate for 14 days following his arrival on Sunday.

Earlier this week, Cavani had revealed that he and his partner Jocelyn Burgardt had tested positive for COVID-19 while on holiday in Ibiza in the summer.

Looking at Manchester United Premier League calendar, the club’s next game is away to Newcastle United on the 17th of October and most probably the 33-year-old will not feature.

The awaited match will hinder Solskjaer who will be without the suspended Anthony Martial for the trip to St James’ Park.

Also, it means Cavani will not train with his new teammates until the condition is resolved. Therefore, he is set to miss the Champions League tie away to PSG on the 20th of October because of a lack of training.

Meanwhile, Solskjaer is delighted to have Cavani by his side. He said, “Edinson is an experienced ultimate professional who always gives everything for his team. His goalscoring record for club and country is fantastic. We are delighted to sign a player of his caliber”.

“He will bring energy, power, leadership, and a great mentality to the squad. But most importantly, he’ll bring goals. He has had a brilliant career so far. Winning trophies at almost every club he has played for and he still has so much more to give at the highest level”.

“Edinson knows exactly what it takes to succeed and we are all looking forward to seeing him make an impact at Manchester United”.
