Butragueno also indicated that fans and neutrals would have the opportunity to enjoy the stadium throughout the year, not just during Real Madrid’s home matches.
A new phase will begin at Real Madrid
Emilio Butragueno, the director of institutional relations of Real Madrid, stressed that the new redesigned Estadio Santiago Bernabeu would enhance the club’s image worldwide and be strategic in their plans to expand the brand further. Butragueno also indicated that fans and neutrals would have the opportunity to enjoy the stadium throughout the year, not just during Real Madrid’s home matches. “The Estadio Santiago Bernabeu will be an essential and fundamental element for the future of Real Madrid, as envisioned by the Santiago Bernabeu in 1947,” said Butragueno. “A new phase will begin at the club. The stadium is strategically located and will be an icon for the city. We will strive to dominate world football through the stadium. It will be used 365 days a year. Fans will be able to enjoy the stadium all year round. And not only during the 30 games played a year.”
Santiago Bernabeu gas a pride component
“We strive to be the best, and for that, we need to have the best players, and the stadium will be a strategic element”. Butragueno went on to indicate what the Bernabeu means to Real Madrid fans and added that the plan is to transform the new soil into a better place in the world of football. “It has a pride component because this place explains a lot of Real Madrid’s history, unforgettable nights and what Real Madrid are today,” Butragueno added. “It is our home, the place where the family meets and where we get excited. This place must adapt to changing times and the future. It is going to surprise many. It will be the best stadium in the world and a source of pride for Real Madrid fans.”
Real Madrid did not sign any new players last summer. So Butragueno justified the team’s transfer policy by highlighting a challenging period football clubs go through during the pandemic. “You had to be consistent, and that’s why we sold and rented players out,” continued Butragueno. “That was what the entity needed. The club has always been very active in signing, but we had to be careful. It is the exercise of responsibility and consistency. The situation is still the same. We are in November and should see how everything evolves. Hopefully, soon we can enjoy football as we have always understood it.”
