Maxim is proud to be at Bayern

Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting has extended a deal with the Bavarians that will keep him with the Bundesliga champions until the summer of 2023. A new two-year contract has been handed to the experienced frontman. The 32-year-old has played a decisive team role at the Allianz Arena behind Robert Lewandowski after signing on a free transfer when his deal with PSG expired in 2020. Eric told Bayern’s official website: “I am proud to be here. Bayern is an extraordinary club, the number one club in Germany and one of the world’s best clubs. My first season here was great – on the field, but also outside of the pitch, we had a lot of fun together.”

According to Salihamidzic, Choupo-Moting is an important player for the Bavarians

“I want to continue playing with Bayern, and I would like to reach the DFB Cup final in Berlin and perfectly win the Champions League. Furthermore, I look forward to getting to know Munich even better, to become even more at home here, because Munich is a beautiful city.” Choupo-Moting made 32 appearances in all competitions last season for Bayern Munich, with nine goals netted by the Cameroon international. He is expected to figure prominently again when Julian Nagelsmann takes the reins, with the German champions thrilled to be getting business done early this summer. Board Member for sport Hasan Salihamidzic said: “We are happy that Maxim will stay with us for another two years. He is a crucial player for us, played strongly last season and scoring many goals.”

“Maxim can be used in several positions, has excellent technique, a great experience and is a goal threat. In addition to his sporting quality, Maxim is also important for our team as a person. He will help us achieve our objectives in the next two years.”
