At Barcelona Messi controls everything

Eric Olhats, the scout who discovered Antoine Griezmann and represented the Frenchman until 2016, talked about the striker’s adaptation to life at Barcelona and criticized Lionel Messi’s attitude. Griezmann has struggled to adapt since his transfer to the Catalan club in the summer of 2019 and doubts have often been raised about how compatible he is with Messi. “He came to a club with big problems, where Messi controls everything,” Olhats told reporters. “Messi is both emperor and monarch and did not take well the arrival of Griezmann. Last season, when Griezmann arrived, Messi did not speak to him or pass the ball to him. It created real trauma, and negative adaptation and something like that must have left a mark. It was all obvious and visible. Messi’s attitude was deplorable.”

Griezmann never conflicts with anyone

“I’ve always heard Antoine say that he had no problems with Messi, but never the opposite. It is the regime of terror. You are either with him or against him.” Despite these fears, Olhats expects that Griezmann will seek peaceful decisions and stay calm. “He’s never conflicted with anyone, he’s not like that,” Olhats said of Griezmann. “And it’s not because of a lack of courage or personality. He loves football and nothing else, and he does not want to fight with anyone. It is useless for him to get involved in the war.” Finally, the former agent of the Frenchman is confident that all difficulties at the Camp Nou can be overcome. So far he has only 17 goals out of 57 appearances with the Blaugrana, but Olhats is convinced that No.7 can end up thriving in the club.

“I’ve already seen him go through difficult times and know that he will move forward from this situation,” said Olhats. “It’s the club that is ill, not him.”
