Monchengladbach hosted Dortmund at their home stadium. The teams are in the top-four of the Bundesliga, so the match was promising for the fans.

Strategy from Marco Rose

Head-coach of Monchengladbach had a very interesting strategy before the match. Team played with two strikers ahead while the team is used to playing with only one. Plea and Hoffman were playing as the center-forwards. Captain Stindl was helping both, midfield and attacking line. The main target for Marco Rose was helping forwards from the wings. That’s why the team played with three center-defenders but full-backs were very active on the wings. On the other side, Erling Haaland was ready to play and he was fully healthy. It was visible in the first half when youngsters scored two goals.

Serious drama in first half of the match

Monchengladbach started the match actively. They could score a goal in the 2nd minute but it was disallowed by the VAR. Soon, they opened the score-line. In just a few minutes, Haaland turned the situation around. He scored two goals in a six minutes period. After Haaland’s second goal, Elvedi scored his second goal too. In the first half, teams played 2-2.

Nothing changed in the second half. Both teams were good in the final phrase but Monchengladbach scored more goals. Bensebaini gave a lead to the home-team and Thuram registered the final result 4-2.
