The Brazilian believes it would be a good achievement for the Reds to qualify for the Champions League after a traumatized campaign.

Fabinho’s opinion on current season

Liverpool can consider the 2020-21 season a success if it secures a top four finish, according to Fabinho. The Reds won their first-ever Premier League title in a canter run-off, finishing 18 points ahead of runner-up Man City, but were unable to match the same sequence levels this time around. The city has already regained the trophy, while Jurgen Klopp’s men have slipped to fifth place in the standings with three games remaining and are destined to end the campaign without a single piece of silverware to their name. Liverpool also pulled out of both the Carabao Cup and the FA Cup in the fourth round before crashing out of the Champions League in the quarterfinals at the hands of Real Madrid, but Fabinho’s troubles came down to bad luck with injuries. The Brazilian believes the Reds can still look back lovingly to the season if they manage to save the Champions League qualification, as he said if you asked at the start of the season, he would say no. According to the Brazilian in the beginning, they are always optimistic and he would talk about winning trophies. Now I would say yes, because the season was a little strange. After the injuries, bad moments they had, being in the top four would mean success.

Jurgen Klopp had to experiment

Liverpool made a relatively strong start to the campaign before injuries hindered their progress, starting with the loss of Virgil van Dijk in a 2-2 draw to Everton in October. The likes of Trent-Alexander Arnold, Joel Matip and Fabinho subsequently joined the Dutchman on the treatment table, while club captain Jordan Henderson also faded into the background. As a result, Jurgen Klopp had to experiment with different couples in the center, and Ben Davies and Ozan Kabak were brought in during the January transfer window as the German tried to arrest them dipping in uniform.
