English Premier LeagueFerdinand blasts Tuchel’s way of handling young players

Former Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand believes Thomas Tuchel does not treat young players with ‘care and understanding’.

Ferdinand claims Tammy Abraham has fallen the pecking order under the German. Abraham has struggled for playtime since Tuchel arrived in January. Also, at the end of February, an ankle injury added to his misery time at Stamford Bridge.

Abraham has seen only a three-minute cameo off the bench since recovering from the injury. Also, the German entirely left the English forward out of the FA Cup semi-final against Manchester City.

However, Ferdinand believes Abraham would not match the treatment Timo Werner gets because he doesn’t represent an investment.

Rio claims, “It’s crazy we were talking off-air before. A young player does [Abraham] get the time that a Timo Werner, new signing gets when they come in?

“And they’re not treated with as much care and understanding of their character and cotton wool that a new signing gets.”

He added, “A new signing gets the investment but you’re investing in a young player. A young player adds so much value to a team but they don’t ever get that time or patience that a new signing gets.”

“Tammy wouldn’t get the time Timo gets,” he stated.

The legendary defender pointed that Warner has had enough chances that the manager should be giving the youngster too.

“He [Werner] scored at the weekend but he missed a sitter at the weekend. He missed another tonight,” Ferdinand pointed.

“If you’re Tammy, you’re sitting there going. ‘Right OK, I’ve got to be playing at least at the weekend to get myself in the shop window for the next game against Madrid.”

Tammy displayed a young promising talent as an academy. Many tipped the British youngster to be the best player in the future but he is yet to prove. Despite Abraham’s several loan spells and a promising return, he has struggled under Tuchel falling behind Timo Werner.
