Bale still loves Real Madrid

Gareth Bale’s return to Tottenham Hotspur was disappointing, with the hope of a long-term stay in North London fading by the day. As Jonathan Barnett, the player’s agent suggested that Zinedine Zidane would have the final word on the player’s return to Real Madrid. The relationship between Zidane and Bale was mostly absent when the Welshman left for Spurs last summer, and Barnett feels that the French coach does not like and appreciate the player as it should. “He still loves Real Madrid,” Barnett told reporters. “He has no problem with the club; it won’t be a problem for him to return. They have to decide if they want him back. I think you have to ask Zidane if he wants him, but I don’t think so.”

It’s not a player’s job to be friends with the fans

Real Madrid supporters grew frustrated with Bale towards the end of his time with the club, making him responsible for much of the team’s struggles on the pitch, but Barnett believes the 31-year-old doesn’t need to pander to them if he comes back. “He doesn’t have to do anything. He’s doing his talk on the pitch,” Bale’s agent added. “He is a footballer, and it’s his responsibility. It’s not his job to be friends with the fans. He did everything right on the pitch and was incredibly good for the club, he never said anything, and he won many trophies, several of the great Real Madrid goals are from Bale, so I think when people look back, they will realize how idiotic they were with him.”

When pressed on whether Bale and Mourinho’s relationship is broken, Barnett said no, but could not resist an easy dash at the Portuguese coach and Tottenham team. “They have a good relationship, and there are no problems,” he confirmed. “It is the journalists who create the problem, but there is no problem. We expected him to play more, it didn’t go so well, but the team haven’t done that well either.”
