The friendlies played by England over the week wasn’t the most entertaining thing to watch but Gareth Southgate looked like he had everything fully planned out so or so, that he has already decided on the World Cup’s starting ten.

Over the past week England played out 180 minutes of football without a conceding a single goal and not too many chances but England at least were well organized and were playing to a system, something that hasn’t always been the case.

After breezing through the qualification stages of the World Cup Gareth Southgate decided to change over to a 3-5-2 formation during the friendlies and started to mold the team the way he wanted ahead of the iconic tournament.

The Three Lions were missing some of their best players with the likes of Harry Kane and Dele Alli missing out due to injury. Without them, the likes of Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Tammy Abraham did quite good on their international debuts.

But even with just two games of the new system and missing some of his big players according to reports, Southgate has picked 10 of his starting XI for the summer:

Southgate earlier commented on Eric Dier, “At that time he wanted to focus on establishing himself with Spurs as a center back. He felt that was where he’d play in the future, and it still might be, I think.”

Gareth Southgate wants to play with defenders who are comfortable with the ball and having Eric Dier back there does make sense.

The inclusion of Joe Hart was a surprise and a disappointment, with the English man being on loan at West Ham and for sure short of his best form but Jack Butland and Jordan Pickford will pressure on him.

Jordan Henderson was another player to miss out on the friendlies due to injury and he is considered to be the best holding mid-fielder the Three-Lions have whilst Adam Lallana is yet to start a game for Liverpool this season but his attacking abilities are for sure commendable and essential for the lions.

With the current lineup, it isn’t a surprise to see the listed players start for England as they’re all worthy of playing in the team
