Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo make mistakes

Giovanni Reyna says that Jadon Sancho made him feel that he belongs with Borussia Dortmund. As he showed that his team-mates had helped him move further from his early growing pains. Reminding the young American that even Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo make mistakes. Reyna this year made his way with Dortmund Borussia, earning his senior debut in January while becoming the youngest American ever to play in the Bundesliga. He even scored his first top goal in the DFB-Pokal, scoring a fantastic curler against Werder Bremen. Reyna, who cited Christian Pulisic, the player who inspired him to leap to Europe, made a total of 11 matches for the Dortmund before German football was suspended due to the coronavirus.

I’m here because I belong

After only a few months of her senior career, Reyna realized that he would experience adversity. Still, the winger said that the advice from Sancho made him feel more comfortable with his adjustment to Dortmund’s first team. “I think the most crucial thing for any young player is to be sure – I’m here because I belong,” Gio told reporters. “Those guys told me that mistakes happen, even Messi and Ronaldo make mistakes. You do it and then leave it behind and move on. Jadon knows how I felt. He was there for me, and I could always go to him with things if I needed help from the field.

The winger added: “There were some difficult times, and I knew that it would not be easy. But all I need to do is keep my head up to date, look to the future, and, I hope, I can do some more cool things.”

Gio also has a relationship with Erling Haaland, who in January joined Dortmund from RB Salzburg after making his way to the Champions League group stage. Haaland serves as Gio’s driver, while the American is too young to have his own driver’s license, and both have already linked up for a goal, as the Norway star fired against Paris Saint-Germain in the first stage of their clash in the Champions League round of 16. “I watch on him because he has done so much in his young career, and he’s a great guy,” says Reyna. “He inspired me because he sees something in me.”
