Tottenham and England striker, Harry Kane has suffered a torn hamstring as announced by the club. Mourinho is “totally convinced” that the striker will be out for a while.
Kane limped off during the Southampton defeat on Wednesday. On Friday, manager, Jose Mourinho said he was expecting “bad news.”
Meanwhile, the medical staff will review the injury with ongoing treatment.
No time scale has been given for his return yet. But he is likely to miss out several weeks of action with the FA Cup tie at Middlesbrough on Sunday included.
“Head up. Tough times don’t last, tough people, do.” Said Kane.
“Everybody knows who he is, what he is, what he means for the team, the fans, the club.” Said Mourinho
“His quality, the routines that the team was playing with him, every minute of every game he doesn’t play we miss, so every match that he doesn’t play we’re going to miss him.”
In a statement, Spurs club said, “We can confirm that Harry Kane suffered a tear in his left hamstring during our New Year’s Day fixture against Southampton.”
“Our medical staff will continue to review the injury with treatment ongoing.”
Kane has scored 27 goals in 31 appearances for club and country this season.
Christian Eriksen could be sold this January
Eriksen will be in the squad facing Middlesbrough this weekend. However, losing him in January remains a possibility.
Inter Milan is among the clubs that have contacted Eriksen’s representative about his future.
The 27-year-old contract expires in the summer making him free to speak to foreign clubs this month.
“At this moment, he ca agree with any club for the end of the season. that’s one option.” Said Mourinho
“Another option is a club and he wants to do a deal in January, but in that situation, our club is in control.”
“Another possibility is he stays.”
Nonetheless, Spurs would prefer to sell Eriksen in January if he will not sign a new contract. But there are expected to be more suitors for him on a free transfer at the end of the season.
