Manchester United Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has given goalkeeper Dean Henderson six games run starts following David De Gea’s absence.
The rare start comes after David De Gea left for Spain until the international break. Expressing his lack of playtime frustration weeks ago to Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, he has been handed a start.
Solskjaer did not reveal why the Spanish missed but it is clear De Gea will be out of action for some time. Henderson stepped in against Crystal Palace. After the draw at Selhurst Park, the manager reveals Dave’s absence was private.
“I can’t really say about David, it’s a private matter,” Solskjaer said
Henderson has hardly seen playtime come by since he returned from a loan spell at Sheffield United and he has only started on Cup-tier occasions.
Henderson got a rare start in De Gea’s absences at Crystal Palace on Wednesday and it seems he is going to continue on that position. He returned to be with his pop star partner Edurne, who is expecting their first child.
“Dean is ready if he’s called upon, you saw that. He kept his concentration,” Ole said.
Manchester United has several injuries in the midfield and they have been struggling in their domestic league. United have seen 3 consecutive 0-0 draws in all competition including Wednesday draw at Palace.
Meanwhile, Juventus midfielder Rodrigo Bentancur tests positive for Covid-19 and that is adding to Juventus woes. The news comes in the wake of Juventus’ injury crisis ahead of the Champions League clash with Porto.
The club announced on Thursday that the 23-year old is asymptomatic.
“Juventus football club announces that, during the checks provided for by the protocol in force, Rodrigo Bentancur has tested positive for Covid 19,” the club said on the official website.
“The footballer is in isolation and asymptomatic,” the club added.
“The club is in contact with the relevant health authorities. For the definition of effective implementation of the protocols required to allow the training and competition activities of the team group,” the club concluded.
Juventus are struggling in the domestic league with a list of injuries trailing them. The Turin welcome Porto in the Champions League second leg round of 16 knock-out stage.
