Musiala made his first German debut
Jamal Musiala is “very proud” to make his German national debut when the 18-year-old playmaker stepped off the bench in a 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifier against Iceland. The Bayern Munich teenager was handed 11 minutes of competitive action by Joachim Low when he replaced Kai Havertz in a comfortable 3-0 victory for Die Mannschaft. Musiala had the right to represent Nigeria and England but pledged his loyalty to his birth country. The Three Lions had been hoping to see him choose a different path, being at the youth level for them, but their successes were knocked back. Jamal boasts the potential to be a mainstay in the Germany for many years to come.
Musiala has already become the youngest footballer to represent Bayern in the Bundesliga. He is their youngest scorer and youngest performer to find the net in a Champions League fixture – with all those marks hit at 17. A long-term contract has been signed at the Allianz Arena. And this agreement should maintain his significant potential in Munich until 2026.
