Javier Tebas is confident that fans will be back in April

LaLiga president Javier Tebas said he hopes some supporters will return to stadiums in Spain’s top two divisions by the end of April. Unlike some other leagues, such as Premier League and Ligue 1, there has not been a significantly reduced capacity with fans for matches in LaLiga Santander and LaLiga SmartBank. “If the circumstances are correct, fans will be back before the end of the season,” Tebas said. “We are ready, we would have been ready a few months ago, but there are circumstances that we cannot control. We have been in this situation for a year now, we found out, and we hope that in the third week of April, we can start having a percentage of supporters in the stadiums.”

It would be nice if Cristiano returned

Tebas and the National Sports Council are working to bring fans back to the stadiums. But it all depends on the Spanish government giving it the green light. “After what the Secretary of State for Sport, Irene Lozano, has said, we all hope that after Easter, we will be able to set a quick date,” Tebas continued. “Everyone is cautious about Easter, which is key to see how things are going”. The LaLiga president was also asked about the summer transfer window and whether he expects Real Madrid and Barcelona to be busy, with Kylian Mbappe and Erling Haaland linked with the former in particular. “It is very unlikely or improbable that these players will be in LaLiga next season,” Tebas said.

“I would like them to come, but we have to be realistic. I don’t think either of these two players will play for the team in Spain next season”. Another rumour saw Cristiano Ronaldo related to his return to Real Madrid, which he left in the summer of 2018. “He still makes a difference. He is still a genius and a superstar,” Tebas concluded. “He’s a man made in Madrid, and it would be nice if he returned.”
