According to the latest reports, Callejon is going to leave Napoli. The player will return to Spain.

According to the publication FOOTBALL-ITALIA, 33-year-old Napoli striker Jose Callejon has decided not to extend his contract with the current club and return to his homeland as a free agent.

The player has been actively linked with Valencia. The Bats have also begun negotiations with the player’s agent, and as reported by the source mentioned above, Callejon has already made the final decision and agreed to their offer. However, an official statement in this regard has not yet been released.

Two other teams also wish to buy Jose Callejon

Italian media reported that Valencia from Spain was not the only club that wanted to add Callejon. As it turns out, two other clubs of La Liga wished to buy the player. But their identities are not known.

Callejon joined Napoli in 2013 from Real Madrid. Then his transfer cost Italians 9.5 million. The current contract of Callejon expires on June 30 this year. But for obvious reasons, the player will stay at the club until the end of the season.

Jose Callejon has played in 336 matches for the Neapolitan club. He scored 80 goals and scored 77 times for his teammates. As it turns out, there was no interest on the part of Aurelio de Laurentiis to extend the existing contract.

Recall that at the end of the current season, the contract expires with another leader of the club – Dries Mertens. But it has been reported that the Belgian will stay at Napoli for another year or two.
