Bergamo Atalanta rivals PSG in the quarter-finals of the Champions League. However, the game of the Italian team’s top scorer in Lisbon is very doubtful. Josip Ilicic, 32, is reportedly suffering from depression.

Bergamo Atalanta head coach Jan Piero Gasperini fears that one of the team’s leaders, Josip Ilicic, will not be able to play against Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League ¼ final.

The Slovenian striker is the top scorer at Bergamo Club. Ilicic has scored 15 goals in 21 Serie A games. He has also scored 21 goals and nine assists in all club competitions of the season. Against this background, the exclusion of Joseph is a huge loss for Atalanta.

“It is unlikely that Josip Ilicic will be with us in the Champions League Quarter Final in Lisbon,” Gasperini said.

According to Italian media, the Slovenian football player is depressed. That is caused by the situation created by the coronavirus pandemic in the world. As it turns out, the Italian club decided to run with his family in his homeland because of serious psychological problems.

It is unknown if Ilicic will miss only the match against PSG. On the other hand, he may not be able to help the team in the next round.

The match between Atalanta and Paris Saint-Germain in the ¼-final is to be held on August 12 at the neutral ground in Lisbon. The Parisians may also miss recently injured Kylian Mbappe.
