France won the first game of group F. They had to face Germany in the opening match – tough luck indeed.
Karim Benzema in the starting line-up
As you may know, Didier Deschamp called Karim Benzema after six years. It was the first time for Karim Benzema to enjoy the France national team after winning the World Cup. Karim Benzema missed a chance of winning the world cup. Deschamp called Karim because of the best season individually. Karim Benzema was in the starting line-up. He played in the attacking line along with Antoine Griezmann and Kylian Mbappe. The youngster of PSG was unstoppable along with Karim Benzema. Their skills and play-alongs were really good experience for the defensive line of Germany.
Along with France, Low made few interesting changes in the line-up. Toni Kroos was the main midfielder in the game. He was commanding every attack from start to finish. Serge Gnabry was also very active in the attacking line as he had few chances to score a goal. Kai Havertz was playing beside Timo Werner. Both players won the Champions League two weeks ago. Chelsea’s attackers were the best from the start of the season. Experts believe that Germany has to focus more on the Werner-Havertz duo.
own-goal decided everything
France was very good from the first minute of the match. Karim Benzema and Kylian Mbappe were active in the attacking line. Kylian Mbappe was way too fast for Hummels. Unfortunately for Matt Hummels, he scored an own goal after the attack of France. Karim Benzema passed to Paul Pogba before the goal attack. Manchester’s midfield crossed the ball to the winger and Hummels scored an own goal in that moment. Matt did everything to dominate in the attacking line during the headers but he could not. France was active in the second half too but they won the game with only one goal difference.
