Jurgen Klopp remarkably claims Alisson blunders could have been down to the keeper having “cold feet”.

In the space of three second-half minutes, Alisson twice passed the ball straight to an opposing player. His mistakes allowed Gundogan to grab his second goal after Salah had leveled from the penalty spot and then Sterling to make it 3-1 and also awarded Phil Foden a superb day after netting City’s fourth.

Afterward, Klopp said, “We made two massive mistakes. Everyone saw them. 3-1 down in a game that we were even for a long time and you’re really down. It’s tough to take. Then there’s a genius situation where they scored the fourth goal”.

“Performace was really good. With a performance like this, we would not be 10 points behind City. The goals, we made massive mistakes. It’s a problem against City. It’s a killer. That’s why we lost the game”.

“We can’t hide Alisson’s errors. We don’t have to talk around it. It’s true as well. We didn’t give a lot of options, especially in the first goal. In the second goal, he just mishit the ball. There’s no real reason. Maybe he had cold feet. It sounds funny but could be. But it’s still an opportunity to stick it in the strands. Ali has saved our life plenty of times. Today he made two mistakes. That’s how it is”.

“At the end, when you lose 4-1, it’s not our day but big parts of the game were brilliant from our side. Really good football, I see in your eyes (Geoff Shreeves) you see it differently. I really liked it, we were playing really good football against City. This means you are in the game. The possession was not like what it was usually with City”

“At the start of the second half, City changed the situation to 4-4-2 and it’s a little adaptation. In the second half we didn’t give enough options to play and gave the first goal away. We just gave them too many opportunities. We scored the equalizer, it looked like the game could now go in our direction and we were really good again”.
