Liverpool head coach Jurgen Klopp spoke about his first meeting with Merseyside forward Sadio Mane and said that he looked like a novice rapper rather than a football player.

“I remember how my and Sadio’s paths crossed for the first time. It happened in Dortmund. I was watching – someone very young man is sitting, in a baseball cap and with a white stripe on his hair, like now.”

“He looked like a novice rapper. I thought, ‘I don’t have time for him now. Our team looked good at that moment, I needed someone who could not be a major player at first, but I would help them develop. ”

“Then I thought I felt people great, but it turned out I wasn’t right. In the end, Mane excelled at Salzburg, just dominating Southampton,” GOAL.COM quoted Klopp as saying.

As you may know, Mane transferred from Southampton to Liverpool in the summer of 2016 for 41.2 million euros. He scored 77 goals and made 34 assists in 161 appearances for Merseyside.

Sadio Mane also praised Klopp: “Our level has risen in his hands.”

Liverpool head coach Jurgen Klopp is praised by the team’s striker Sadio Mane.

“Jurgen is a great person and a fantastic specialist. The level of all the players in his hands has risen. When we lose, Klopp finds the right words, which encourage us and give us greater motivation.

He knows how to approach this or that player, and we will achieve a lot more success with him, “said Mane.
